Our History

Mount Seymour United Church is a congregation of the United Church of Canada which was formed by the union of the Methodist, Presbyterian and Congregational Churches in 1925.

Mount Seymour United Church opened its doors on April 30, 1989.  It was built by the congregations of Deep Cove United Church in Deep Cove, and Mount Seymour United Church on Berkley Road which had shared ministry since 1952.  Faced with a growing community the decision was made to develop a more centrally located worship facility that would also be accessible to many community groups.

Since then, Mount Seymour United has been an important gathering place in the community. Some examples of this are:

In operation since 1990, our Thrift Shop is both an outreach to the community and a lively center of congregational activity.

Mount Seymour Preschool has been a part of our church community for many years.

Community Group users (past and present) include: Alcoholics Anonymous, Alanon, Sparks, Brownies, North Shore Chorus, Espiritu Choir, Singspiration Choir and Kumon Educational Institute.

The Sanctuary is a popular recital, rehearsal, concert and recording venue.
