Minister
Reverend Nancy Talbot joined the ministry team at Mount Seymour in the fall of 2004. Ordained in the United Church of Canada in 1995, Nancy is a strong preacher with a gift for connecting with people where they are at.
She has a natural, unpretentious way of leading worship, a spontaneous sense of humour and strives for Sunday worship services to be dynamic and deep. She is passionate about helping people connect with the sacred in a way that shapes and forms them for living authentically and sustainably in the world.
Nancy lives in Vancouver with her partner Brenda, their two young children, Nathan and Joel, and their dog, Claire.
Nancy is on Sabatical from April 16 - August 16, 2010. While she is away, Kimiko Karpoff will be our Interim Minister.
Meet Kimiko
What a blessing to have the opportunity to journey with you while Nancy is taking spiritual time for rest and renewal. I have been asked to take responsibility for Sunday morning worship for the three months of her sabbatical. To this, I bring a spirit of adventure and the belief that all of our senses long to worship. I will also be responsible for offering emergency pastoral care and memorial services as needed.
I am a student of diaconal ministry. I have also worked in ministry in both United and Anglican settings for more than ten years. For the past two summers I worked at Naramata Centre as a Program Resource. Last year I was the interim minister for youth and young families at Northwood United in Surrey. Prior to that I spent five years as Community/Ecumenical minister at Shiloh-Sixth Avenue United in New Westminster. I am also trained in and training in the Healing Pathway at Naramata Centre and am part of the healing group at Northwood. I have recently returned from an exposure trip to Ghana, Africa with Wade. We hope to have an opportunity to share with you some stories from our experience.
My family includes my partner Paul, who is a musician, and our thirteen-year-old son Finn, also a musician. Occasionally I will join them jamming, although playing music is more of a delight for me than a talent. Playing guitar and singing is one of my spiritual practices.
