Choirs for All
A Choir for Every Voice
Music is the expression of our soul. Every member of our congregation is welcome to participate in choral music. We offer an Adult, Youth, Childrens and Mount Seymour United Community Gospel Choir. And please - no music reading ability or previous experience is required; just a desire to make music with others. Regular choir workshops are offered to hone your singing skills if you wish to attend.
Our choirs perform music from a wide-ranging repertoire, including world and classical music, folk, pop and jazz. All three choirs sing at Sunday services as well as outreach projects, such as performing in Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside.
Youth Choir (10-15 years)
We are looking for youth who want sing, shout, clap, drum, and move and groove to inspirational songs of all kinds. We will be learning and singing world, folk, pop, rock, gospel, and other musical styles both in church and out in the community.
No singing experience or music reading ability needed: all voices are welcome, instrumentalists too!
Choir practice is at 4 p.m. on Thursdays and led by Pandora Furniss
Children’s Choir (5-9 years)
This is all about having fun with music!
Practice is on Thursdays from 4-4 :30 pm and led by Mary Sparks

Go for Gospel
Are you a ‘closet’ gospel singer, only belting out those blood-stirring spirituals in the privacy of your car? The Mt. Seymour United Community Gospel Choir might be just the choir for you. One a month, Brian Tate leads the choir in a rousing, roof-raising rehearsal of gospel music, featuring a house band and fabulous guest soloists. Here’s the best part – all voices are welcome, no ongoing commitment is required and music reading is not required. Lyrics and sheet music are available in advance of rehearsals. This is music for music’s sake – for the sheer energy and joy of joining your voice with others in praise and celebration.
Practices are generally on the fourth Thursday of the month at 7:30 pm
The choir sings at worship on the Sunday following the practice.
