Do you like...
Cooking? Our Heavenly Palate catering group puts together meals for church gatherings, weddings, funerals, and other events.
Singing? Try our senior or youth choirs.
Kids? You can help out with our youth program on Sunday mornings, or our teen program during the week.
Gardening? Help mow the lawn or do other projects around the church.
Counting money? We need help with the offering on Sundays.
Sales? Help out with our Thrift Shop, selling used goods every Thursday from 2-8p.m. Funds raised go to First United in the Downtown Eastside, towards our church operations. They would love help sorting during the week, or lugging and selling on Thursdays.
Making Sandwiches? Our sandwich brigade makes sandwiches weekly for the Downtown Eastside. Sign up for as many or as few shifts as you can make.
Origami? The Friday "Fold" group folds the bulletin every week, and has a great time doing it?
Carpentry? The youth program is looking for people to make a number of items for our new program.
Welcoming new people? Our welcoming group is happy to hear from you. They organize events for new people, and make there is a friendly face to greet you on Sunday mornings?
Knitting? Our Prayer Shawl group knits shawls and presents them to individuals who need a little "TLC".
Cleaning? We need help cleaning up after events at the church.
Sitting and Reading? We have people who hang out at the church in the evenings to ensure that all goes well with the various groups who use the church.
Tech Toys? Volunteer to help out run the sound board or the Powerpoint projector on Sunday mornings. Training included!
Eating? Saturday mornings men (7:30 a.m.) and women (8:30) meet at the Church to chat and discuss the affairs of the week. We also have Faith, Food and Fun Dinners for families throughout the year.
Parties? Join the Congregational Life Team, which organizes our fun events like Pizza Night, the Talent and Fashion Show, Turkey Lunch, and Formal Gala. All the teams meet monthly (with a few emails in between).
World Peace and Justice? Join the Mission and Outreach Team, that helps find and encourage the congregation to give to great causes around the globe.
Keeping an eye on the bottom line and making sure the building stays up? Join the Administration Team.
Planning services, bible study and the youth program? Join the Worship and Christian Development Team. Sounds great! How do I get involved? One-stop volunteer shopping is available by getting in touch with Kathryn Clinton, our friendly and helpful Church Administrator. Mount Seymour has a children's program that overlaps with the Sunday Service. It is led by Wade Lifton and an enthusiastic group of volunteers. Your children will feel welcomed, have loads of fun, and may learn a few lessons at the same time. Just fax the form back to the Church at 604-929-1370.
The Church is governed by a Council of church members. The council includes the leaders of the teams identified below, as well as members at large and administrators. The Council Chair is Ward Branch.
The Administration Team keeps an eye of the finances and the other practical issues that arise on a day-to-day basis in a busy church. The team is presently headed by Stan Jouchin, who can be reached at 604-929-4680.
This team is comprised of 15 members including 4 church employees. Our purpose is to provide support and leadership in the development of worship for all ages and to create and encourage educational programs of interest to all ages as expressed in "Charting Our Course". The Team meets the 4th Wednesday of each month and at other times in special sub groups as necessary. We welcome new and enthusiastic members.

This team looks after the spirit of the church, including social events, and ensuring that all members of the community are taken care of. Frank Luba heads this group.
This group looks outward, ensuring that the church uses its people and financial resources for the benefit of the greater community, both here in B.C. and around the world. This team is headed by Joyce Jones.
Outreach Orientation Luncheon – Sept. 21 after Worship
Would you like to find out more about how we live out our faith at MSUC through our local and global outreach initiatives? Plan to stay after worship and get to know what the Outreach Team is all about. Lunch will be provided.
Lookout Brunches
On the third Saturday of each month a group of MSUC volunteers cooks brunch at the Lookout Homeless Shelter in North Vancouver. If you would like to help, contact Dilys at (604)929-6273. The next brunch is September 20.
This team manages any staff and employment issues that arise.
The Thrift Shop was started in September 1990. It collects used clothing and some household items for sale to families in the community. Serviceable clothing not sold is distributed to First United Church and other charitable organizations. The Thrift Shop is open Thursdays from 2-8 p.m.

The Youth Group meets on Sunday nights with Junior Youth (11-12 years) from 6:30-8:30 pm and Senior Youth (13+ years) from 7:30-8:30 pm and is led by Wade Lifton, our new Children and Youth Leader.
All Ages Faith, Food & Fun
Join us for Sunday dinner, Mount Seymour style. Periodically, people of all ages gather together for a potluck meal that includes a program component for children, youth and adults and a closing worship.
